Predicting Child Support Payment Delinquency Using SAS? Enterprise Miner 5.1

**************

Hi,

On Tuesday, February 21st the Chapter is hosting an informal talk by
Jodi Blomberg from SAS. The talk will be at Dixon's Restaurant in
downtown Denver (directions are below).
There are many reasons to attend this event. This is a very real world
application of data mining techniques using a SAS product. This is a
good opportunity to meet other statistians in the area.
The food at Dixons is good and although they haven't won a best
Margarita award since 2003, the drinks are still quite respectable.
Of course, your are not obligated to eat or drink, if you wish to just
enjoy the talk.

Details: We have the side dining room reserved from 6 pm to 8:30pm.
The reservation is under the the chapter name (ASA). Drinks
and hors devores will begin at 6. Dinners should be ordered around
6:30. The talk will begin promptly at 7:30.

Abstract

To ensure the health and welfare of children and to reduce welfare
costs, child support agencies around the country are tasked with
successfully collecting child support payments for the children in
their respective states. This paper discusses how a data mining
approach has helped agencies collect more support payments and use
their collection resources more effectively. Using data mining to
identify payers who are likely to become delinquent helps child
support agencies build effective intervention strategies for
collecting payments. Predictive modeling is also used to determine
which intervention strategies are effective for various types of
payers. Sequence analysis and binary response modeling are emphasized
in this approach using SAS Enterprise Miner 5.1 as the modeling
environment.
