SCOSTEP Awards Announcement and Call for Nominations</span></b></p>

is a call for nominations for the 2018 SCOSTEP Awards for <i>Distinguished
Science</i>
and <i>Distinguished Young Scientist</i>. </span></p>
<p class="Default"><span
style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial Unicode
MS",sans-serif">The
<i>SCOSTEP Distinguished Science Award <span
style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span></i>is
given to recognize an outstanding contribution of a scientist to
solar-terrestrial physics. </span></p>
<p class="Default"><span
style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial Unicode
MS",sans-serif;
mso-bidi-font-style:italic">The <i>Distinguished Young
Scientist Award <span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span></i></span><span
style="font-size:11.0pt;
font-family:"Arial Unicode MS",sans-serif">is given to
young scientists who have
achieved considerable success in solar-terrestrial physics and
have taken an
active part in SCOSTEP-related activities. </span></p>
<p class="Default"><span
style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial Unicode
MS",sans-serif">The
SCOSTEP awards are given biennially. The first <i
style="mso-bidi-font-style:
normal">Distinguished</i> <i>Science Award </i>and the first
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Distinguished<span
style="mso-bidi-font-style:
italic"> Young Scientist Award </span></i>were given in
2014. </span></p>

MS",sans-serif">The
Award Statute and Procedure are placed on the SCOSTEP web site
section “Awards”

<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="-1"><span
style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS",sans-serif">Award
nomination packages (nomination letter and nominee’s
curriculum vitae) for the <i
style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Distinguished</i> <i>Science
</i>and <i>Young
Scientist Awards </i>should be submitted to the SCOSTEP
secretariat (mshepher[at]yorku.ca)
by no later than <b>February 28, 2018</b>, as a single pdf
file. The currently
serving SCOSTEP Executive Officers and Bureau Members are not
eligible for
nomination. The award decision will be made by the SCOSTEP
Awards Committee
(SAC) and communicated to the Bureau after considering
submissions.</span></font></p>
