Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado has an immediate opening for a
1-year Research Associate (Post-Doc) supporting NOAA’s National Centers for
Environmental Information (NCEI) in Boulder, Colorado (formerly the National
Geophysical Data Center). The role of
the Space Particles Post-Doc is to support the on-orbit calibration and
validation of the GOES-R Space Environment In-Situ Suite (SEISS) charged
particle detectors, scheduled to launch in March 2016. Specific tasks include investigating
techniques for inverting differential flux spectra from broad energy channel
measurements and for removing cross-species contamination. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Applicants are required to have a Ph. D. in physics or
similar scientific discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience. </p><p class="MsoNormal"><br></p><p class="MsoNormal">Applicants for this position must possess
excellent technical and communication skills and a strong background in the use
of higher-level computer languages such as Python. Experience handling space particle data sets
is highly desired. U. S. citizenship or
permanent residence status is required.</p>
