Founded in 1888, USU is the oldest and largest public residential campus in Utah. The university enrolls approximately
18,000 students at its main campus in Logan, including nearly 1,700 graduate students. An almost equal number of students enroll at USU-Eastern, USU’s four regional campuses, fifteen teaching centers, internationally based programs, and online programs. Utah
State University set an institutional record in research funding of over $220M during the past fiscal year.

<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The College of Science at Utah State is an exciting, dynamic and innovative academic unit comprising five departments: Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geology, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics. The College of Science enrolls
approximately 1,500 undergraduate majors, 200 graduate students, and employs over 100 tenured and tenure-track faculty. The College occupies twelve buildings across the university campus. In addition to the internationally renowned Center for Atmospheric and
Space Sciences, the USU College of Science has developed robust interdisciplinary programs in genomics/bioinformatics, nanotechnology, ecological sciences, mathematical physics, watershed, and climate science. The College of Science plays a major role in
the state-sponsored $200M Utah Science, Technology and Research (USTAR) program designed to promote science and engineering research to benefit economic development in Utah. Faculty and students in the college also engage in research at the Innovation Campus,
a business development and enterprise facility at Utah State University, and at the adjoining Space Dynamics Laboratory. USU has recently established the STE<sup>2</sup>M Center to promote innovative education opportunities and career development in STEM fields.
The College of Science counts among its faculty several Carnegie professors and seven NSF Career Award recipients, and in the past five years, nine undergraduates have become Goldwater Scholars and nine graduate students have become NSF Graduate Research Fellows.<u></u><u></u></font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The Dean is the chief academic officer of the College and reports directly to the Executive Vice President and Provost. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and possess credentials sufficient for appointment to the
rank of Full Professor; will have a passion and ability to inspire achievement in others; will have an appreciation of the importance of alumni relations, advancement and fund-raising; will demonstrate an appreciation for, and commitment to the land-grant
and space-grant missions; and will be a person who is effective at building working partnerships within the university and with key government and industry partners. The Dean will provide administrative and intellectual leadership for faculty, staff, and students;
promote innovative growth of research, teaching, and supportive infrastructure, and represent the College effectively to the University.
