The successful candidate is expected to have a track record of leading a vibrant externally-funded research program and demonstrate excellence in graduate student and postdoctoral fellow supervision. He/she will conduct a vigorous research program in space physics with a focus on synergistic measurements and model studies of the electrodynamical processes in the Earth’s ionosphere and magnetosphere. The observational part of the program can encompass ground-based remote sensing of the ionosphere and magnetosphere and/or particles and fields measurements of the near-Earth space. Applicants must have experience at the Full or Associate Professor level in a relevant field. The successful applicant will be appointed as a tenured faculty member at the Full Professor or Associate Professor level and will be nominated for a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair. The current research expertise in solar-terrestrial physics at the Department has a strong focus on ground-based radar sensing of the ionosphere and magnetosphere (SuperDARN).
