Dear colleagues,

David S. Evans, a long-time colleague at SWPC/NOAA who retired several
years ago,
passed away from pancreatic cancer peacefully at his home on Friday
afternoon,
October 14.  A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Friday October 28 at
Unity
Church, 2855 Folsom St, Boulder, CO 80304 (303-442-1411).  Dave was
responsible
many years for the analysis of the electron and ion particle precipitation
instruments
on the NOAA POES satellites.

Patrick S. McIntosh passed away on Sunday October 16.  Pat also worked for
NOAA, but had a private business where he made solar synoptic maps from
1964 to 2009.  Pat suffered from dementia, but his maps are being digitized
by his former employees Ian Hewins and Bob McFadden at HAO/NCAR with an
NSF project run by David Webb of Boston College.  His memorial service will
be
held Friday October 21 from 1130AM-1230PM at New Day Covenant Church at
2801 Jay Road, Boulder, CO 80301.  He will be buried in the Cremation
Garden at
Mountain View Cemetery at 1245PM directly afterwards.
