Please consider participating, through presentations or attendance, in the CEDAR Grand Challenge Workshop: Coupling and Transport Processes from the Upper Mesosphere through the Middle Thermosphere (80-200 km), MLT extended (MLT-X).
Session 1 (2 hrs) June 21, Tuesday Afternoon, 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 pm; Sweeney A room
Session 2 (2 hrs) June 22, Wednesday Afternoon, 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 pm; Sweeney A room

This Grand Challenge Workshop is working toward establishing the necessary measurements, theory, and modeling of the neutral gas and plasma to address a broad class of processes in the 80-200 km region. To provide focus, the MLT-X Workshop addresses two processes that have profound effects on planetary atmospheres on Earth, as well as other planetary atmospheres; 1) Plasma-neutral atmospheric coupling and 2) wave-induced transport and turbulence. See workshop description at http://cedarweb.vsp.ucar.edu/wiki/index.php/2016_Workshop:MLTX_Coupling_and_Transport_Processes

This four-year, GC Workshop is in its third year. The focus of this year's workshop is to consider the necessary modeling capabilities to address the science questions and investigate the existing and planned instrumentation, facilities, and campaigns to advance the science goals of the MLT-X region. Therefore, a range of speakers covering modeling capability, modeling limitations, and modeling development are solicited. However, there is also interest in continuing discussions from past workshops on MLT-X instrumentation and observations with time built-in for community input about future campaign prospects and collaborations to advance the science.

Please contribute and attend this important community discussion and provide a voice in the future direction of MLT-X science. Send your proposed participation to jeffrey.thayer at colorado.edu<mailto:jeffrey.thayer at colorado.edu>
