Dear colleague,

I would like to invite you to submit your nomination for the 2016 International Sunanda and Santimay Basu Early Career Award. The deadline for nominations is April 15, 2016.

Established in 2008, the Sunanda and Santimay Basu Early Career Award in Sun-Earth Systems Science is given annually to one early career scientist (within seven years of the award of Ph.D. or highest equivalent terminal degree) from a developing nation in recognition of outstanding contributions to research in Sun-Earth systems science that further the understanding of both plasma physical processes and their applications for the benefit of society.

Eligible nominees (1) have been awarded the degree of Ph.D. (or highest equivalent terminal degree) have completed their degree requirements during the seven-year time period prior to the award presentation year (1 January 2009 - 31 December 2015); and (2) currently live and work in developing nations. Consideration is to be given to nominees who have overcome obstacles in attaining their research objectives.

The award includes:

- Travel support (airfare and housing) to attend the AGU Fall Meeting for the length of his/her stay during the award presentation year
- Complimentary meeting registration to participate in the AGU Fall Meeting during the award presentation year
- Three years of complimentary AGU membership
- Award certificate
- Announcement in Eos
- Invitation to present a talk at the AGU Fall Meeting during the award presentation year
- Recognition at the AGU Fall Meeting during the award presentation year
- Complimentary ticket to the Space Physics and Aeronomy section dinner at the AGU Fall Meeting during the award presentation year
