Postdoctoral researcher in Space Plasma Physics at Los Alamos National
Laboratory

The Space Science and Applications group (ISR-1) at Los Alamos National
Laboratory (LANL) seeks candidates for a postdoctoral position in space
plasma physics. The candidate chosen for this position will be expected
to undertake research in inner magnetospheric physics and space weather,
specifically in the large-scale dynamics of the Van Allen radiation
belts and the effects of wave-particle interactions on the ring current
and radiation belts. This project will leverage data from a wide range
of instrumentation, including the Los Alamos National Laboratory
particle instruments at geosynchronous and medium-Earth orbit, and will
also use numerical simulations of the inner magnetosphere.

Previous research experience in inner magnetospheric physics (radiation
belts, wave-particle interactions) is preferred, but not required.
Evidence of expertise in scientific programming, preferably in C and/or
FORTRAN is desirable. For specifics about this position please contact
Dr. Vania Jordanova (vania at lanl.gov) or Dr. Steven Morley
(smorley at lanl.gov). The candidates are expected to have a demonstrated
ability to pursue independent research and work as a member of a team,
as well as a strong record of publication. Candidates should hold a PhD
in Space Physics or a related subject obtained within the last five
years, or soon to be completed.

For full details of the position, and to apply, please see position
IRC38271 at the LANL jobs website:
http://www.lanl.gov/careers/career-options/jobs/index.php. Appointments
are for two years, renewable for a third year. In addition to applying
on-line, interested candidates should send their CV, publications list,
statement of research interests, and the names and email addresses of
three references to Dr. Vania Jordanova (vania at lanl.gov).
