Research Fellow in the Chemistry of Planetary Atmospheres

Fixed term for 30 months, available from 1 October 2014



Applications are invited for a research fellowship which is part of the 5-year advanced grant project "Cosmic Dust in the Terrestrial Atmosphere", funded by the European Research Council. You will join an international team studying the evolution of dust from comets and its impact in the atmospheres of the Earth and other solar system bodies. Your role will be to work mostly on the modelling components of the project, but with the opportunity to engage in some experimental work.


You should have a PhD in atmospheric science, physical chemistry, or a closely related discipline. Experience of programming in a computer language such as Fortran is essential. You should be prepared to work as part of a dynamic team and, when appropriate, to use your initiative as an independent researcher.

University Grade 7 (£31,342 - £37,394 p.a. - includes pay increase effective from 1 August 2014) dependent upon qualifications and experience.
