There are several upcoming deadlines for the annual CEDAR Workshop
in Santa Fe, New Mexico, June 24-29 at
http://cedarweb.hao.ucar.edu/wiki/index.php/2012_Workshop:Main

Students attending the CEDAR Workshop who get air fare reimbursement should
have their flights to Albuquerque bought three weeks before the meeting.
Please email the flight information to Carrie Appel at cappel at ucar.edu by
Friday June 1 (tomorrow). Those who are driving, should also let Carrie know.

Non-students should register by Friday June 1 since a late fee of $75
will be imposed starting Monday June 4. The hotel block at the Eldorado

Students should already have their registrations and their lodging

Dear Colleages,

In the near future the EISCAT Scientific Association will face a major
instrumental upgrade with the ESFRI Roadmap project "EISCAT_3D: A European
Three-Dimensional Imaging Radar for Atmospheric and Geospace Research."

EISCAT, in co-operation with the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory (SGO), will
run a training course for new users of the EISCAT radars, from 27th August to
1st September, 2012 (Monday to Saturday). The training course will be held at
Sodankylä, where one of the EISCAT UHF remote sites is located.

The course will cover all essential aspects of the current EISCAT systems,
including their science programme. An overview of the existing hardware and
software will be provided and future plans will be discussed, with a strong
emphasis on EISCAT_3D. Tips on analysing and working with the data will be given
and the participants will run an own radar experiment in a hand-on exercise.

The lecturers comprise members of the EISCAT staff and experienced scientists
from the user community. As well as providing a good foundation for new EISCAT
users, the course will also provide a chance for more established users to be
updated on the latest and future developments.

The deadline for registration in the course is 26th June, 2012.

For more information please visit http://www.sgo.fi/Events/RS2012/.

Please forward this message to anyone you might think is interested. Thank you!

All the best from Sodankylä,

Thomas Ulich

(Apologies if you receive this more than once!)

Dear Colleagues,

Please see the attached second announcement for the 4th international HEPPA
(High Energy Particle Precipitation in the Atmosphere) meeting, which will be
held jointly with SPARC/SOLARIS (Stratospheric Processes and their Role in
Climate / SOLAR Influences for SPARC).

We invite you to join us in Boulder, Colorado, USA on 9-12 October, 2012, for a
lively and stimulating workshop to discuss the newest advances in understanding
the influences of solar radiation and energetic particle precipitation on space
weather, the atmosphere, and climate.

The HEPPA/SOLARIS 2012 web page is at http://www2.acd.ucar.edu/heppasolaris.
This page will be updated soon with information on program agenda, logistics,
and instructions for registration and abstract submission - which are due 17 August.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you would like to be removed
from this distribution list. Also, please forward this announcement to
colleagues who might be interested.

All the best,

Cora Randall
